1. Who we are
Markers is operated by Healthstars Technologies Inc. (“Healthstars,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Policy applies to the Markers application, website, support channels, and related services (the “Service”).
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
- Name, email address, authentication details, date of birth, and profile preferences.
- Information you add to a self, managed, or shared profile, including relationship, permissions, and consent records.
- Optional details such as healthcare contacts, health card information, emergency contacts, family history, or profile notes.
Health and wellness information
- Lab results, health markers, vitals, measurements, weight, goals, symptoms, conditions, procedures, injuries, and family history.
- Medication, prescription, and supplement information, including notes and history.
- Health documents, images, referrals, requisitions, clinician summaries, and information extracted from those files.
- Supported data you choose to import from Apple Health after granting permission.
Appointments, conversations, and recordings
- Appointments, reminders, and calendar event details you create or choose to connect.
- Messages and prompts exchanged with Markers’ AI-assisted features.
- If you choose to record a conversation, audio, transcripts, summaries, and identified next steps. Markers does not record unless you initiate or enable the feature and grant required device permission.
Sharing, device, and service information
- Profile invitations, access levels, revocation and handover records, and items you intentionally share.
- Device identifiers, notification tokens, crash and diagnostic data, security logs, and basic usage information needed to operate and protect the Service.
- Support messages and information you provide when asking for help or exercising privacy rights.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and personalize the Service; organize records and documents; create requested summaries and drafts; answer AI-assisted questions; connect optional Apple Health, calendar, camera, photo, file, microphone, and notification features; support managed and shared profiles; secure accounts; prevent abuse; troubleshoot issues; comply with law; and communicate about the Service.
4. Health data, Apple Health, and calendar access
Access to Apple Health and your device calendar is optional and requires your permission. Markers requests only the categories needed for the features you choose. You can change device permissions in iOS Settings. We do not use Apple Health data for advertising, data brokerage, or marketing profiles, and we do not sell it.
5. AI-assisted features
When you enable or use an AI-assisted feature, Markers may send the information needed to fulfil that request, such as your prompt, relevant profile details, health records, documents, images, transcript, or prior conversation context, to contracted processing providers. These providers include Anthropic for certain AI processing and Supabase for hosting, authentication, data storage, and backend processing.
AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete. It is informational support and is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.
6. Conversation recording and consent
You are responsible for obtaining the permission of every person whose voice or information may be recorded and for following the recording and privacy laws that apply where you are. Do not record a clinician, family member, or any other person without required consent. Audio and transcripts may contain highly sensitive personal information; review them before sharing.
7. Managed profiles and children
Accounts are intended for adults and others old enough to consent under applicable law. An adult may create or manage a profile for a child or dependant only when legally authorized to do so and after providing any required notices and consent. Do not enter or share another person’s information unless you have lawful authority.
8. How we share information
We do not sell personal or health information. We may disclose information:
- To service providers that host, secure, process, or support the Service, under contractual restrictions.
- To people you invite or items you intentionally share, according to the permissions you select.
- To comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests; protect rights and safety; or investigate misuse.
- As part of a corporate transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
9. Data location and international processing
Service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions. Privacy laws in those places may differ from those where you live. We use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
10. Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain security and audit history, resolve disputes, comply with law, and honour your choices. Account deletion and record removal may be subject to legal, security, backup, and integrity requirements. Deleting a source item may not immediately remove every derived record or backup copy.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your credentials and device secure, use sharing permissions carefully, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, or withdraw consent. You can manage many choices in the app and in iOS Settings. See Privacy choices or contact us.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required.
